英文摘要In this paper, land cover classification information for two typical coastal zones (the Chabahar-Ormara coastal zone and the Chittagong-Kyaukpyu coastal zone) in the northern Indian Ocean in 1990, 2000, 2010, and 2017 were extracted to analyze the current situation as well as the change and regional differentiation of land cover in the study areas. Based on provided data for the marine ecological elements, the coastal sea surface temperature, the sea surface chlorophyll concentration, and the seawater transparency were analyzed to comprehensively evaluate the ecological environment situation. The results show that, in the two coastal zones, both construction land and agricultural land are on the rise, mainly due to urban development driven by the expansion of ports, such as Chabahar, Gwadar, Chittagong, Kyaukpyu, and others, which places new pressure on the ecological environment of the coastal zones and their adjacent waters. In the Chabahar-Ormara coastal zone, due to desertification control, the forest area is increasing; however, in the Chittagong-Kyaukpyu coastal zone, the average annual rate of decrease in forestland is 0.36%, and the peat and mangrove forests are damaged to varying degrees, aggravating the ecological vulnerability. In view of the destruction of coastal forest and wetland vegetation caused by coastal land development and runoff water pollution, it is suggested that the scale of land development should be strictly controlled, the destruction of tropical rainforest and coastal wetland resources should be avoided. Meanwhile, appropriate sewage treatment facilities should be deployed to strengthen water quality testing and reduce the occurrence of red tide.
