英文摘要PURPOSE:To improve the precision of convergence by providing a bias setting circuit, a digital-analog converter (DAC) reference current setting circuit, a threshold current (Ith) comparator, and software which realizes an algorithm to unify and automatically set them. CONSTITUTION:The bias current of a bias setting circuit 22 is raised until the output signal of an Ith detecting circuit 14 is changed, and the set current is fixed, and thereby, Po/If (Po is laser power and If is a laser driving current) is apparently fixed with respect to the characteristic curve of a laser. Preliminarily determined DAC reference current values and power reference data are unequivocally outputted, and an up/down counter is counted up until the output of a comparator 14 which compares the output of a photodetector 32 and power reference data with each other is changed, and the counted value is compared with a preliminarily stored value, and the DAC reference current is set again in accordance with the comparison result, thereby fixing Po/If to a prescribed value. Thus, the convergence precision is improved with respect to power adjustment of the laser.
