Calculations of electron impact for the Fe XXIV 3P(3/2,1/2)-> 2s(1/2) lines

英文摘要Electron-impact cross sections for two Fe23+ line emissions 3p(3/2) --> 2s(1/2) and 3p(1/2) --> 2s(1/2) are calculated using the semi-relativistic distorted-wave Born-exchange approximation. We have included line formation by direct excitation, radiative cascades (RC), resonant excitation (RE) and dielectronic recombination (DR) satellites with captured electrons in n greater than or equal to 5 levels in our calculation. There is a good overall agreement between the experimental data and our theoretical values for these two individual lines. The calculation confirms the narrow resonances from DR satellite emission and RE near excitation threshold. At the temperature near where the Fe23+ abundance peaks (kT similar to 1.7 keV), the DR satellites contribute similar to6%, RE contributes similar to3% and RC contributes similar to12% of the rates of line emission.
