英文摘要Based on experimental data measured by the LDV system, vertical velocity distributions are well compared for steep and small slopes in different hydraulic conditions in an open channel. New Equation of wall-normal velocity has been proposed and their physical interpretations are explained. Different from previous studies, the variation of water surface can generate the mean-vertical velocity, resulting in studying the open channel flow more convenient. It is found that The Karman value for steep slopes is smaller than that for small slopes. This study also explains the significant influence of the near-wall velocity on the turbulence structures, such as the re-distributions of turbulence intensities. The equations for defect-law in steep flow have been developed by taking the effect of non-uniformity (the wake parameter.) into account, and the relationship between the maximum velocity and wake intensity has been established. Good agreement between the measured and predicted turbulence intensities has been achieved. Based on this investigation, the following conclusions can be reached: The velocity profiles of both small and steep slopes well fitted the data. The Reynolds number does not obviously affect the Karman value. Therefore, the logarithmic law adequately approximates the data throughout the entire channel depth. Compared log-law with defect-law, Due to its limitation, the defect-law is not better than the log-law in describing the velocity profile. Valuable conclusions are drawn and references are provided for further studies on the hydraulic characteristics of steep slopes.; Engineering, Environmental; EI; CPCI-S(ISTP); 0
