VATT: Velocity adaptive target tracking algorithm for wireless sensor networks

英文摘要As sensor nodes are often deployed in an unattended fashion, energy efficiency becomes an important consideration for the design of sensor network protocols and applications. To provide energy efficient target tracking service using wireless sensor networks, we proposed VATT, a target tracking algorithm aiming at achieving adaptability for both the magnitude and the direction of the roaming velocity of target objects. During the localization phase, sampling rates of sensors are adjusted dynamically according to a velocity prediction method. During the data delivery phase, both geographical and energy factors are taken into account when packets are forwarded, so as to achieve load balance within a larger area. Analysis and evaluation show that our algorithm prolongs lifetime of the network while guaranteeing the precision of localization.; EI; 0; SUPPL.; 335-338; 33
