英文摘要 | Due to the applications of large number of organic solvents in industry and domestic dry cleaning, the groundwater in many developed and developing countries is contaminated by organic solvents such as trichloroethylene, dichloroethane, tetrachlorethylene etc. Fenton oxidation technology (H2O2 + Fe2+) has been used increasingly in the treatment of the organic pollutants in groundwater. The decomposition of hydrogen peroxide in various aquifer media of groundwater has a decisive influence in the treatment effect. Therefore, this paper studied the kinetics of hydrogen peroxide decomposition in aqueous materials (including sand, soil and ferrous sulfate solution). The data of hydrogen peroxide decomposition in the aquifer sand and in ferrous solution can be well described by the pseudo-first-order kinetics, while it conforms to the pseudo-second-order kinetics in the aquifer soil. Hydrogen peroxide decomposed fastest in ferrous solution, followed by aquifer soil and sand. The results indicate that hydrogen peroxide decomposition is controlled by organic matter content and divalent iron ions of the media, but the latter has a greater impact. The application of Fenton reagents remediating trichloroethylene polluted groundwater was also performed. After reaction for 8 h, the pollutants were removed completely, indicating that hydrogen peroxide catalyzed by ferrous ions decomposes into strong oxidizing hydroxyl radicals.; Geosciences, Multidisciplinary; Meteorology & Atmospheric Sciences; Water Resources; SCI(E); 2; ARTICLE; 4; 1179-1182; 5 |
