英文摘要More than 80% information input for a human comes from vision. Visual prosthesis, especially retinal prosthesis, have been intensively developed for several decades to restore the blind eyesight by effectively stimulating the retinal neural cells to evoke phosphene. Currently several retinal prostheses have been commercialized but their resolution remained low. In this talk, latest results of the high-resolution epi-retinal implant developed in SIAT CAS will be shown. We will focus on flexible microelectrode array (fMEA) with 100+ and 1000+ channels, and its novel surface engineering using responsive biomaterials and various platinum nanostructures. Our experimental results have shown that micro/nano surface modification has greatly enhanced the stimulation performances and is promising for effective and precise phosphene. We will also discuss the biological and animal studies with our retinal implants.
