英文摘要This paper presents a numerical simulation of localised fluidisation in a granular soil due to a leaking pipe using the technique coupling the discrete element method with the lattice Boltzmann method. Simulation results show four distinctive bed regimes at various flow rates (i.e. fixed-bed, stable-cavity, growing-cavity, and blow-out regimes, respectively). The bed regimes are found to be consistent with previous experimental results. The primary characterisation prior to and at the onset of fluidisation, the bed expansion, and the cavity evolution, are also studied and compared with the existing experimental findings, good agreements have been achieved. The present work suggests the coupled technique has an excellent capability in capturing the behaviour of leakage-soil interaction, and could be a very promising tool for the investigations of geotechnical applications on a particle level.
