英文摘要The cluster method is used to investigate the electronic structure of rare-earth Eu2+- and Ce3+-doped SrS and CaS alkaline-earth sulphides in the local-density theory regime. The ground state is obtained self-consistently by the DV-X alpha method, while the transition state theory is used to calculate the excitation energy of the rare-earth luminescent centre. The calculated excitation energy corresponding to the 4f-5d transition of SrS:Eu is 3.19 eV, which is in agreement with the experimental data at 430 nm for the absorption peak in SrS:Eu. The compositions of the ground state and excited state are also calculated; this can give information about the electroluminescence excitation mechanism.
