They were quite active in the political arena before the Revolution of 1911, committing themselves to new-style education and cultural undertakings, establishing modern enterprises, championing constitutionality and regional autonomy. All these not only served to pursue their political and economic rights and benefits, but also objectively created certain conditions for the launching of the Revolution of 1911. After the Revolution, Guangxi business circle began to practice transformation towards the modern times with the aid of the strength of traditions and public welfare undertakings.
