| 中文摘要 | 繁缨,历来被认为是"马大带"和"马鞅"。我们追溯其源头,发现《说文》有"緐"而无"繁",训为"马髦饰"。学者们认为緐是马髦之饰。我们认为"髦"应读为"旄","马髦饰"当为马之旄饰,即用牦牛尾制作的装饰,可系结于马颈之下。缨应为系结緐的革带,与鞅一同位于马颈下,故而相混。靳只配备在骖马身上。; The termfanying(繁缨) is generally viewed asmadadai(马大带) ormayang(马鞅)(breastplate or other relevant horse tract) in annotations, but this paper offers a new interpretation for this term. Fan( 緐) is a homophone of fan( 繁) in Shuowen Jiezi(Explaining and Analyzing Characters), which is explained as mamaoshi(马髦饰), or mane ornament. We propose that the character mao(髦) should be viewed as another homophone mao, and mamaoshi is equivalent to the decoration made of tail hairs of Yak. This type of ornament could be hanged on the breastplate below horse's neck. The mixing of the terms yang(鞅) and ying(缨) might be related to this issue. In addition, jin(靳) is only used on the outside two of a team of horses. |
