中文摘要Macroscopic carbon nanotube (CNT) bundles were synthesized on stainless steel by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Xylene was used as the carbon source and ferrocene as the catalyst. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Raman analysis were used to evaluate the morphological and the structural features. The diameters of the bundles are about 15 similar to 25 mu m and their length over 500 mu m in 30 min. The bundles are composed of aligned multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWNTs) and the CNTs in each bundle are closely compact and parallel to each other along the direction of the bundle axis, implying high mechanical strength of these bundles. The aligned CNTs can only self-organize into arrays of macroscopic bundles on the Al buffer layer with HF treatment. The possible formation mechanism of bundles is discussed.
