英文摘要 | Intensive magnet R&D efforts are underway to meet the requirements of future colliders and enable new discoveries in High Energy Physics. During the next decade, a series of LHC upgrades will be implemented aiming at a 10-fold increase of the integrated luminosity with respect to the original design. Starting in 2004, the US LHC Accelerator Research Program has developed large aperture Nb3Sn quadrupoles for this application. At this time, the program is completing the R&D phase and transitioning toward prototyping and production. Future colliders significantly expanding the energy reach of LHC are also under study, and new magnet technologies will be required to support the objectives of these projects. A review of progress to date and future challenges is presented. |
